Caroline, Alberta is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the province, as well as largely unpopulated wilderness areas. It is a yearly destination for campers, hunters, fishermen and tourists. Its close proximity to the Rocky Mountains and the Forestry Trunk Road make Caroline an excellent base of operations for wilderness buffs in the foothills.

There is always some prime Alberta recreational property available in the Caroline area. Some of the land and homes can double as farm land with benefits. I am referring to a parcel of land that is partially arable land or used for pasture for livestock. The remainder is still in bush or wilderness, possibly with a creek, river or other body of water running across it or nearby. Owners of this type of land could rent out the farmable area locally, and utilize the rest for their leisure activities.

There are also properties available for lease or purchase that are purely for recreational use, and then of course there are large areas of Crown land which is not for sale. More than one private camping area leases sites to people, who then set up camp and leave it there year round. This can be a great alternative to journeying all the way to a campground, only to find it already filled. Owners of these leases can enjoy their Caroline Alberta recreational real estate whenever they like.

During the hunting season, Caroline is a destination for hunters from all over the province. The wilderness of the Rocky Mountain foothills is a favourite for many hunters every year.

Caroline Alberta recreational real estate is perfect for most outdoor activities. There are many who enjoy fishing in the Clearwater River or one of the small lakes in the area. Atv’s and quads, as well as dirt bikes, can be driven off-road on many trails and cutlines. There are government camp grounds as well as private camp grounds. Campers can also be found on crown land, or on their own recreational property.

If you love the outdoor life and Alberta wilderness areas, you will enjoy the foothills west of Caroline, AB. The view of the Rocky Mountains is spectacular!

My wife and I lived for 2 years in Eckville Alberta with our son, who was 5 at the time. We really enjoyed this community and the slower pace of life in a small town. Eckville property has a lot of advantages over the big city of Red Deer that we moved away from. We now own a rural Alberta acreage that is only half an hour from Eckville, and in some ways we both still miss living in the town.

One of our favourite parts about Eckville was that for us, everything was within walking distance. We saved money on fuel and got in shape by starting our car less frequently. Downtown was only a hop, skip and a jump from the house we lived in with our son. We would go for walks that ended at the video store, the gorcery store, or the coffee shop.  For a longer walk, we could venture down a few streets to the other end of town. Traffic is hardly ever a concern in Eckville, and we never had to worry about our pedestrian safety as we wandered the town. I think this is one of the biggest  advantages that Eckville Alberta real estate can give you, safety for your family. We felt safe in Eckville, and we weren’t as worried at the playground or even on the sidewalks with our son.

Shop owners and businesses tend to be a lot friendlier in Eckville than in some areas of Alberta, such as the big city.  There is a lot to chose from in Eckville, including a large grocery store, a hardware and agro supply, more than one restaurant, a drug store and a Fields store. There is a Credit Union and a CIBC in town as well. For most items, one never has to venture out of the town of Eckville. We did most of our grocery shopping at the Co-op, and only travelled to a bigger store for a select few things. With a video store, a pizza take out service, 3 gas stations, and more than one mechanic and tire shop, almost all your needs can be met by this small town.

For a look at year round activities and the population of this town have a look at Eckville at a Glance.
